Over the last 15 years, Oasis developed a strategic system to effectively meet the literature needs of the growing church in English speaking Africa.

The overarching solution is to establish indigenous retail outlets that can distribute Christian resources and Bibles that are affordable. We eliminate the obstacles in the production and shipping process that typically drive up the cost of books.

A core element in our working model is building economies of scale. This allows us to create efficiencies in production and shipping and to make books affordable throughout the different regions of Africa. Printing several titles at a time allows us to ship relatively small quantities of a given title to countries with smaller populations. We often send full containers directly to large population centers.

For us, it is all about expanding the “pipe”. The “pipe” is the best analogy we have for our process - the most flexible and cost-effective distribution channel into Africa.  It relies on cutting out every unnecessary step and cost in the distribution chain and harnessing the power of local African entrepreneurs. Our goal is to run as many Bibles and Christian books through this pipe as possible, opening up the flow to build Africa’s church.

This process works because of minimal Western staffing and overhead along with efficient systems for printing and distribution. Oasis pushes costs and profits toward Africa by working with locally owned and operated distributors who leverage the low local cost structures. The operating revenues are designed to cover administration and reprint costs so additional funds can go largely toward the growth of the ministry.

Oasis knows the pipe works. It ends up with great prices for the economically poor majority and adequate income over expenses to enable Oasis to reprint more titles.
