Satisfying Africa’s Thirst For God’s Word

Oasis International is a ministry devoted to fostering a robust and sustainable pan-African publishing industry.

Engaging Africa’s most influential, most relevant, and best communicators for the sake of the Gospel.

Cultivating local and global partnerships in order to publish and distribute high-quality books and Bibles.

Contextualizing content that meets the specific needs of Africa, has the power to transform individuals and societies, and gives the African Church a global voice.

Who Do We Serve?

Oasis primarily serves the Church in Africa, a community marked by rapid growth and vibrancy. In 1900, African Christians made up a tiny percentage of the global church. Today, one in every four Christians is African, and by 2050 it is projected to rise to four out of every ten. These Christians are dramatically impacting their nations and the world for Christ.

What Is The Need?

While Africa is a thriving hub of Christianity, there is a lack of materials contextualized for the discipleship of African Christians. Pastors, leaders, and scholars from across the continent have important ideas to share with the church, however they have no way to widely distribute their insights.

Add to this problem the fact that most African Christians have limited access to books and Bibles. Not only are books expensive, too often they are simply not available. Shipping large numbers of books from country to country is difficult and bookstores are few and far between.

The result of this lack of infrastructure? Over 200 million African Christians don’t own a Bible, and millions of leaders lack written materials to equip their ministry.

Oasis is committed to providing sustainable solutions that empower the African church and build a pan-African publishing industry. We work to publish books that are by Africans, giving African churches resources that are suited to their contexts, and giving African leaders tools to reach a global audience.

Using our distribution network in Africa, we are able to offer booksellers significant discounts that allows them to sell the majority of our books for under five dollars. Rather than subsidizing distribution, we partner with locally owned and operated retail outlets where African booksellers can sell the books that their customers actually want.
